The digital cards are available for download directly from the free Design Restaurants App where members can select to retrieve their card information by simply inputting their membership number and password. Once transferred the App will store the customers unique card information until the membership expiry or until they choose to erase the information from the screen. Restaurants with Design Restaurants barcode scanner technology will be able to scan the mobile screen in the same fashion as the plastic card to record visit information.
Tessa Shreeve, the MD of Design Restaurants says, "Loyalty card use has exploded in the last few years and we were keen to use Smartphone technology to constantly innovate and improve the customer experience. These innovations look set to transform our marketing in the future with a focus on GPS technology". With mobile phone usage and their applications increasing robustly, Tessa adds, "We plan to introduce many more features using the Mobile loyalty cards and its adoption will increase the usage of loyalty by the customers".
Existing Design Restaurants cardholders will be sent a series of e-blasts starting from ?? to update the App on the handset in order to download their card details safely and securely. As before with the plastic card, this is not a credit card but simply advises the restaurant of member participation.
